Frozen Frenzy at Sprouts

I just heard about this on the radio and we all have until Wednesday October 10, 2012 to go stock up om frozen goodies. 

Kettle Cuisine

I am super sad to hear that Kettle Cuisine will be discounting their retail package size of their awesome gluten free frozen soups. I currently have one in my freezer as a back up and while I am one to make a lot of soups from scratch their soups were better than any canned gluten free soup I have found on the market thus far.

They started in food service and are going back to focusing their energy into food service. The food industry is tough and company's have to fight for their space on the shelf and in the freezer. From the founder's note it sounds like their sales just were not worth all the effort, energy, packaging, etc. to make single serve units. It's a shame for the allergen community. My hope is that perhaps their food service clam chowder or chicken noodle will end up as a gluten free option on a local restaurant menu though- that sure would be nice. For now stock up on what you can at your local store; there should be stock floating out there for a couple months. 

Gluten Free at Chick-Fil-A

Chick-fil-A was the "hip" place to hang out when I was in high school, but I was not part of that crowd. Dispute knowing they have a list of gluten free options on their website, I have truthfully never actually dined at Chick-fil-A. Mainly that is because they are not conveniently located for me and not because I did not see them as a good option. More recently, this week they announced new gluten free, non-breaded chicken nuggets that are part of their new healthy children's meal.

Per their press release "Chick-fil-A's Grilled Nuggets, paired with the Fruit Cup and one-percent milk, is one of the most nutritious children’s meal combinations offered among any major fast food chain. The meal has only 210 calories and 3 grams of fat – reflecting an 86 percent cut in fat grams and a 56 percent calorie reduction compared with its previous offerings."

Now I want to go Chick-fil!
